Description: Howard Stott Demolition Ltd was appointed as the Demolition Contractor to undertake the demolition the fire damaged Multi Storey Car Park located at the Liverpool Echo Arena, the car park was destroyed during a fire which broken out on the 3rd floor setting on fire over 90% of the vehicles within the structure, temperatures reached over 1,000C damaging the structures integrity deeming the structure unsafe, there was approximately 150 undamaged cars trapped within the car park which had to be salvaged as part of the demolition.
The Project Complexities:
- Various pedestrian footpaths adjacent to the structure, including local highways.
- Particular consideration was given to noise, dust and vibration impacts to the local residents.
- Adjacent properties within close proximity of the car park.
- Internal propping systems.
- Live under croft access the existing arena which had to be aintained throughout.
- 2no of live sub-stations which was located within the ground floor of the car park and remained live throughout.
- Uncontrolled collapse of structure.
- Existing pavement protection to allow heavy plant access to the structure.
- Highly sensitive nature of works due to the devastation of the fire.
