Paul McDermott
SHEQ Manager
Paul has almost 40 years professional Health & Safety experience spent mainly in and around the construction industry. In that time, he has run his own consultancy business and worked extensively within the asbestos remediation industry sectors for major contractors, before joining the Howard Stott business in 2021 to head-up the SHEQ function. Paul has extensive experience of ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 management systems and also maintains the company’s other CHAS, Constructionline, Network Rail RISQS and FORS accreditations. Paul also spends time at our operational sites, carrying out site audits, safety walks and accident investigations when required. Paul says that working for a small family run business has been ‘a breath of fresh air, with the entire team always pulling together to get the job done safely’.
In his spare time Paul is an amateur beekeeper and has even been called upon to use his beekeeping skills on one of our demolition projects when the team unexpectedly uncovered a very angry nest of bees. Paul attended the site, calmed the bees down, popped them into a new hive and took them home with him.
